Kia Reka Cafe
Kai Reka Cafe has made the corner of Durham Street its own. It's the first thing open in the precinct most mornings, and for plenty of locals it's the reason they're down here at all. Get in early enough and you'll find the regulars already lined up, most of them greeted by name before they've said a word.
The coffee is the heart of it. All your favourites, [made with freshly roasted Raglan Roast beans], from a straight-up long black through to chai, matcha and a proper pour over, plus a fluffy for the little ones.
Then there are the smoothies, and this is where Kai Reka shows its colours. Every one is named after a piece of Ngāruawāhia — the Summit for those coming down off Hakarimata, the Bridge, the Barge, the Point where our two awa meet, and Te Awa itself. Add a shot of protein if you've earned it.
The team here are enjoying being part of the vision for Durham Precinct and serving their coffee and smoothies to our community and its visitors. Whether you're grabbing a takeaway on the way to work or meeting a mate for a catch-up, you're welcome here.
